Beijing Normal University (BNU), located in the heart of Beijing, is a prestigious institution directly overseen by China’s Ministry of Education. It serves as a national hub for cultivating talent in fields such as cultural education, Chinese language instruction for foreign learners, life sciences and technology, legal studies, and the preservation of China’s rich traditional culture.
In 2023, the School of Chemistry at BNU, under the leadership of Dean Ms. Xie, introduced several JAV interactive flat panel displays into their classrooms. The goal? To transform traditional teaching methods — such as blackboard writing and static projector presentations — into a more dynamic, interactive learning experience that ignites students’ curiosity and passion for chemistry.
When asked about the motivation behind this upgrade, Ms. Xie highlighted two key reasons for choosing the JAV Smart Board:
1. JAV Interactive Flat Panel Replaced Chalkboards as A Healthier, Smarter Alternative
Before the adoption of JAV interactive Display, chemistry instructors relied heavily on traditional blackboard writing. This method not only produced excessive chalk dust — harmful to both teachers’ and students’ health — but also limited instructional flexibility. With limited space, instructors were frequently forced to erase content mid-lesson, further dispersing dust into the air.
Moreover, Ms. Xie pointed out that the plain, static nature of blackboard content often failed to capture students’ attention or spark engagement.
“The JAV Interactive Flat Panel has completely changed the classroom atmosphere,” Ms. Xie explained. “Now, our teachers can write freely on an infinite digital canvas using either a stylus or just their fingers — all without producing any harmful residue. It’s a magic whiteboard!”
The built-in smart whiteboard software also includes interactive tools tailored to chemistry education, such as molecular structure templates and chemical equation notations, which enhance visualization and stimulate student interaction.
2. Interactive Presentations That Engage Everyone
Previously, delivering PowerPoint presentations involved connecting a laptop to a projector, requiring teachers to focus on managing devices rather than engaging students. This one-way communication model often left students as passive observers, diminishing the learning experience.
With the JAV Interactive Flat Panel, presentations are transformed. Teachers can directly control slides on the touch-sensitive screen, eliminating the need for external devices. Even better, the system supports multi-user interaction, allowing both students and teachers to navigate, annotate, or contribute to the content in real time.
“This interactivity helps free both teachers and students from the rigid and tedious projector-based approach,” said Ms. Xie.
Thanks to the JAV Interactive Flat Panel, teaching in the School of Chemistry has entered a new era — one where interaction, clarity, and creativity coexist.
